Innovation Conference on Sustainable Use of Water

The International Water Association (IWA) and the Inter-American Development Bank are co-sponsoring an Innovation Conference from 30 September-  3 October in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

Key conference speakers will include Michael Spencer from Monash University and the UNSW Global Water Institute International Advisory Committee, Sergio Campos from the Inter-American Development Bank; Sudhir Murthy representing IWA;  Jason Morrison from the CEO Water Mandate;  Alexis Morgan from the Inter-American Development Bank and the Alliance for Water Stewardship; Will Sarni from the Water Foundry; Cecilia Paredes from ESPOL University and Juan Pablo Mariluz Silva from Peru’s Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation.

While information-sharing will be an important benefit of this conference, a more unusual feature will be its focus on action and implementation.  Because the water industry needs to collaborate with many other sectors in order to reach sustainability goals, presenters will include representatives from the worlds of finance, industry, agriculture, government, NGO’s, education, and research.

Working groups are already developing draft action plans for each track of the conference (Industry, Agriculture, Cities, Innovation, and Cross-Cutting Issues).  These drafts will be revised and refined during the conference, presented at its final session, and used as a basis for future collaborative efforts to move the plans into action.

It you would like to participate,  you can register for the conference at https://www.globalsustainablewater.org/.
