In September, GWI became a member of the Global Water Partnership (GWP). GWP is a global action network with partners working locally, regionally and globally across 183 countries to inform decisions and affect policy on water use and management. Embracing an integrated approach and addressing competing uses of water is central to the GWP paradigm.
The network brings together a wide range of stakeholders across developed and developing country government institutions, agencies of the United Nations, bi- and multi-lateral development banks, professional associations, research institutions, non-governmental organisations, and the private sector. The breadth of both the stakeholder membership and the issues to be addressed to resolve competing water use aligns very well with the breadth of expertise that is a core strength of GWI.
