UNSW-GWI Water Experts Promoted to Professor
The expertise and ongoing contributions of three water experts from UNSW Sydney have been recognised in the latest round of UNSW promotions, with A/Prof Stuart Khan, A/Prof Jason Evans and A/Prof Michael Manefield to soon become Professors.
The three new Professors have different areas of expertise – with Evans from the Climate Change Research Centre, Khan from the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Manefield a joint appointment with the Schools of Chemical Engineering and Civil and Environmental Engineering—but all have demonstrated continued excellence in their respective fields.
A/Prof Evans works on water resource issues at the regional scale, particularly the impact of changes in climate and land-use on water resources. A/Prof Khan’s research encompasses the fate of trace organic contaminants during conventional and advanced water treatment processes, with a particular emphasis on water recycling applications. And A/Prof Manefield’s interests lie in environmental microbiology with an increasing focus on applications.
UNSW Sydney Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Ana Deletic congratulated the group, saying “All three of these are well-deserved promotions for acknowledged leaders in their fields, and internationally recognised authorities.”
The promotions will become effective from 1 January 2018.
